This section defines the typical or average Australian home and the calculations used to measure our footprint. Averages do not describe everyone, we are not all typical, but they do provide a starting point for talking generally about society. If we understand what the average emissions are per person, we can start to see how significant our own personal emissions are, and what the impact is of the decisions we make.
